A fourth chapter, composed in a different medium — fragrance sticks and candles, signed beneath the perfumes.

    Ginkgo, mandarin and golden orchid, transposed to slow diffusion. A room that opens like the first warm Saturday on the Bloemenmarkt.

    Apple, neroli and powdered musk, kept behind glass. The hush of a velvet curtain, half-drawn, on the inside of a Wallen lane.

    Sage, basil and crushed grass, released in slow breath. The lawn of Vondelpark before the joggers, before the dogs.

    Vondelpark

    Pine resin and cool wood, transposed to a wick. Lit at dusk, the room takes on the hush of an empty gallery just after closing.
